AMSA is Australia’s National agency responsible for coordinating maritime and aviation search and rescue. We regulate domestic commercial vessels, Australian and foreign shipping – from hire and drive vessels 12 metre prawn trawlers to 350 metre liquefied natural gas tankers, and everything commercial in between. We are also responsible for protecting Australia’s precious marine environments like the Great Barrier Reef, from the impacts of shipping.

Our stakeholders are just as diverse as our role but our mission connects them all and inspires our people to make a real difference every day – “Safe and clean seas, saving lives”.  AMSA offers unique and challenging career opportunities, and we employ around 430 people across Australia.  To learn more about our organisation please visit our website.

As the Senior Marine Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing technical advice in regards to domestic commercial vessel survey, to achieve project and service delivery goals.

You will be responsible for preparation of in depth submissions, reports and briefings for both internal and external stakeholders including compliance and enforcement arms, Government, Ministerial and the AMSA Executive.

You will be involved in the certification of vessels, auditing, and review of surveys completed by accredited persons to monitor compliance with the National Law, Regulations, Marine Orders and the Surveyor Accreditation Guidance Manual.

This role will see you develop and maintain key contacts in industry, Commonwealth and State/Territory authorities and monitor emerging maritime technologies and trends for potential impact on the safety of vessels.
