$124,755 - $145,496 + 15.4% super

Brisbane based (other locations may be considered)

 ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager Coastal Pilotage and Vessel Traffic Services, the Advisor Coastal Pilotage and Under Keel Clearance Management will be responsible for managing the daily operations of AMSA’s Certification and Pilotage System (CPS) to monitor regulatory aspects and operation of AMSA’s contracted under keel clearance management (UKCM) system.

The position also supports AMSA’s broader coastal pilotage regulatory regime and compulsory pilotage arrangements in the Great Barrier Reef and Torres Strait.

You will be responsible for:

  • AMSA’s Certification & Pilotage System (CPS) with respect to coastal pilotage aspects, including monitoring the Check Voyage framework, pilot licence processes and fatigue management.
  • Liaising closely with coastal pilots and pilotage providers on a range of issues related to (but not limited to) licencing, fatigue management and check voyages.
  • Operation of AMSA’s UKCM system for Torres Strait, including aspects related to system performance, operational improvements, system integrity, risk management, training and competency assessments of pilots.
  • Liaising closely with, and monitor, coastal pilots and pilotage providers regarding the operation and usage of AMSA’s UKCM system.
  • Assisting in the investigation of incidents/accidents and analysis as required in compulsory pilotage areas.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in navigation and charting legislative requirements in the Great Barrier Reef & Torres Strait or other confined waters
  • Demonstrated knowledge of skills and training required for marine pilots
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with under keel clearance management systems
  • Experience in administration/project management and/or quality management systems.
