ABOUT THE ROLE

Join AMSA as an Advisor HR Operations and make a real impact. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide expert advice on complex HR issues, partner with senior leaders, and help shape a positive workplace culture. You’ll lead on employment and workplace relations, coach managers through sensitive matters, drive the implementation of our Enterprise Agreement, and champion improvements in HR operations. With responsibilities spanning payroll delivery, strategic HR initiatives, and data-driven reporting, you’ll be at the heart of AMSA’s mission—supporting safe and clean seas and saving lives.

HR Policy, Performance and Wellbeing is a small team within the People and Property branch, responsible for delivering a range of HR functions including performance management, payroll, advice on terms and conditions and WHS. We take a customer-centric approach to deliver our services in a fast-paced environment.

The Advisor HR Operations works across many operational HR functions, with a focus on working collaboratively with senior leaders and colleagues in HR to develop strategies and provides hands on support to resolve a range of people related matters. This role also leads AMSA’s payroll function, which is delivered via a managed service arrangement.

With a new Enterprise Agreement on the horizon, the HR Operations Advisor will take the lead on a range of implementation activities including system changes, policy development and education for staff and managers.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialist advice on a range of employment issues and workplace relations matters
  • Supporting senior leaders on complex people issues
  • Leading the delivery of an effective payroll function through an external managed service arrangement, providing advice on complex pay matters
  • Driving improvements to HR service delivery and processes
  • Contributing to a range of Enterprise Agreement implementation activities
  • Regular HR reporting and data analysis

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience as a HR professional, with a proven track record delivering operational functions and effectively working through complex people issues
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A deep understanding of relevant employment legislation and contemporary practice
