ABOUT THE ROLE
Positioned within the Response Division’s Asset Management & Preparedness section, the role works collaboratively with Aids to Navigation (AtoN) teams to ensure decisions about AtoN assets are informed by consistent, reliable and accessible information.
The position provides leadership in asset information governance, system development, reporting and insights; enabling AMSA to make evidence-based decisions that optimise the reliability, performance and sustainability of its AtoN network.
You will be responsible for:
- Lead the governance and management of AtoN asset information to ensure it is reliable, structured and complete, to support informed decision-making across the AtoN program
- Translate asset data into actionable insights that support planning, performance monitoring and risk management
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define business requirements and guide system or process enhancements that add measurable value
- Lead the Asset Information Systems team, setting clear direction, priorities and performance expectations, while supporting the wellbeing and engagement of team members
- Champion efficient, standardised and future-ready data management practices across the AtoN program
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in information, data or asset management systems.
- Extensive experience managing information or data systems that support infrastructure, engineering or asset management environments.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams that deliver information or asset management outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and build commitment toward better information and data governance.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical and analytical information into clear, actionable insights for decision-makers.
- Sound understanding of asset management and information governance frameworks (e.g. ISO 55000), supported by relevant professional certification such as CAMA (Certified Asset Management Assessor) or equivalent practical expertise.
- Experience establishing or enhancing data governance frameworks and ensuring data quality and integrity across systems.
- A proven track record of driving continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration across diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary, regulatory or government environment is desirable but not essential.
