About the Role
As a Support Officer Shipping Registration, you'll support the delivery of Australia's ship registration service by processing applications, providing information to customers and stakeholders, and ensuring registration activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
Reporting to the Deputy Registrar of Ships, you'll work within a regulatory environment to process applications, prepare recommendations, respond to enquiries and support the administration of the Shipping Registration Office.
In this role you will:
- Process shipping registration applications in accordance with the Shipping Registration Act 1981 and associated regulations and ship registration procedures and provide a recommendation to the Registrar/Deputy Registrar.
- Communicate with customers and stakeholders to provide accurate advice, respond to enquiries and support the timely processing of applications.
- Prepare correspondence, maintain accurate records and undertake searches of the Register.
- Collect registration fees and support associated administrative and financial processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by maintaining procedures, updating documentation and assisting with onboarding new staff.
What We're Looking For
You will bring:
- Experience providing administrative or business support services, with a strong focus on accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear information and prepare professional correspondence.
- Experience delivering customer service and responding to enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and exercise sound judgement.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and business systems to manage information and maintain accurate records.
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
